THE STORY
The Hard Rockin' Heavy Metal- quartet Sixgun Renegades hail from the Pohjois-Tapiola, Espoo Finland that has also been the birth place of one of the most legendary Finnish band Children Of Bodom. Originally founded in 2008 by twin brothers Niko and Teemu Räty, their cousin Samu Tuomi and friend Otto Aho. Niko on lead vocals and lead guitar, Teemu on drums, Samu on rhythm guitar and Otto with bass. The guys shared enthusiasm for 70's and 80's rock and metal. No wonder one can hear influences by the greats like Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, and Finnish Peer Günt in their music, just to name a few. After 5 years together Otto decide to step down from his bass duties and he was replaced by a childhood friend Miko Mattila. Fun fact: Together back in 2003 Niko, Teemu and Miko put together their first band playing covers from Judas Priest and Quiet Riot. The connection was still there and the rest is history. Together the band has played hundreds of shows in the club scene of Finland. Still, the biggest shows thus far has to be Kivenlahti Rock back in 2013 with the bands like Whitesnake, Childern Of Bodom and Rival Sons sharing the bill.
In 2016 the band met the guys from Turku Rock Academy, an organization of youth work created by the City of Turku’s Youth Services, which aims to improve the prerequisites of young people involved in band activities to develop into competent, maybe even professional musicians. The producers Mark Bertényi and Tuomas Riihimäki of TRA saw the potential and offered to produce a demo for the band. The demo turned into a single and the single turned into a full length debut album. Finally the boyhood dream came in to reality and the album saw the daylight in Jan 26th 2018. Self-titled 'Sixgun Renegades' was released via V.R. Label Finland / Playground Music Scandinavia. Album was mixed by Jussi Vuola and mastered by Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Amorphis, Sonata Arctica, Apocalyptica).
After the strong debut LP (2018 V.R. Label/ Playground Music) the band is planning to release the sophomore album by the end of the year 2020. The album combines elements from Hard Rock and old school Heavy Metal without looking too much in the rearview mirror. You can hear the influences from Van Halen, Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy, but it’s the band’s own sound that thrives. In the upcoming album all the musical elements are still there that made the debut album so good. This time everything is just better. Stronger riffs, blistering guitar solos, amazing vocals and hooks brings you to the journey you have been waiting for. Time to hit the pedal to the metal and enjoy the ride. The band is about to release four singles before the release of the album that is coming out in December 18th 2020.
